Training of trainers explores 21st Century Skills and Virtual Reality in TVET
In a dynamic four-day training programme, educators from the three Ethiopian TVET colleges Tegbareid, Bahir Dar and Dire Dawa came together to deepen their understanding of innovative teaching methods, with a strong focus on 21st century skills and the use of Virtual Reality (VR) in education. The training, facilitated by CINOP, combined theory with hands-on learning, allowing participants to develop realistic VR scenarios that prepare students for the workplace or internships.

Topics such as critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, creativity, and lifelong learning were explored through engaging exercises and interactive sessions. The integration of VR technology offered participants a practical glimpse into how immersive tools can enhance student readiness and simulate real-world environments.
The participants expressed that the programme was highly relevant and appreciated the opportunity to learn from international examples and from each other. The exchange of experiences between the three colleges was seen as particularly valuable, reinforcing the importance of mutual learning as a foundation of the project.
The training was seen as a strong step forward in modernising teaching approaches across the colleges. To sustain momentum, additional activities under work package 5 are planned for 2025. These will further support the integration of 21st century skills and VR in vocational education.
