Training in Mozambique: Working Together to Build Climate-Resilient Agricultural Education
From March 23 to 27, 2026, CINOP and HAMK (Finland) conducted an intensive training week in Nacala (Mozambique) as part of the VECRA-MOZ project. The training was held at ADPP IP Nacala and brought together teachers, project partners, and stakeholders to work on the further development of climate-resilient agricultural education.
The training began with a tour of the IP Nacala Agricultural Center. Students shared their knowledge on topics such as water management, soil improvement, and composting. This proved to be an inspiring starting point.
Inclusion and Future-Oriented Education
During the training, we spent considerable time discussing how to involve more girls and women in agricultural education and employment. The conclusion was clear: this requires a broader shift in mindset, in which the community also plays an important role. In addition, the Finnish partner HAMK led a hands-on session on climate-resilient agriculture. Using simple materials, such as water bottles, mustard powder, and vinegar, participants learned how to conduct soil tests. By stepping into the role of students themselves, teachers gained immediate inspiration for their own lessons.
Innovative teaching methods and knowledge sharing
A key part of the week was the exchange of knowledge between the two schools. The teachers presented their updated modules to one another, with both groups opting for creative teaching methods such as role-playing. This also highlighted the shift from traditional to more interactive and practice-oriented teaching.

Outlook: Further Professionalization
The week was also used to conduct a joint needs assessment for a follow-up training session in September 2026. The key topics include:
We wrapped up the training week with a team-building activity on Nacala Beach: a fitting moment to look back on an intensive and successful collaboration.
