Promoting Vocational Excellence in Climate Resilient Agriculture in MOZambique (VECRA MOZ)

Continent: East Africa
Duration: January 2025 – December 2027

Mozambique is on the frontline of climate change. Recurring disasters, severe droughts, and unpredictable weather patterns threaten agricultural livelihoods, while businesses struggle to adapt. Without skilled professionals equipped to implement climate-resilient practices, the country’s agricultural sector faces an uncertain future.

To address these challenges, a consortium of partners from Mozambique, the Netherlands and Finland have engaged in a European Union funded Erasmus Plus project:  Vocational Excellence in Climate Resilient Agriculture in MOZambique (VECRA-MOZ).

Our answer…

We believe that the key to a sustainable and thriving rural economy lies in empowering young people with the right skills. By fostering vocational excellence in climate-resilient agriculture, we strengthen human and technical capacity, create employment opportunities, and build a workforce that actively contributes to sustainable food production and economic resilience.

This project will be implemented between January 2025 – December 2027 in which the partners, vocational education and training providers and the local agricultural businesses will start with an in-depth sector analysis and partnership creation, ensuring that vocational training is directly aligned with industry needs. Based on the sector and skills needs analysis, we strengthen training programs by jointly reviewing and improving existing modules and materials, and equipping trainers with the skills they need. A thorough testing and pilot phase, followed by an implementation strategy ensures a long term impact of climate resilient AgriSkill training in Mozambique.
