Assessment of entrepreneurial competences through project-based education

In February 2023, the third workshop was organised in Paramaribo. This workshop built further on the results of the second workshop on identifying the entrepreneurial competences that would be needed in the LOBO teacher education programme.
It was decided that this will be implemented in a project-based pilot.

The team at LOBO worked hard with the integration of entrepreneurial competences in the regular curriculum of engineering and hospitality in a project-based manner. The team presented their work and further improved it through feedback. The two teams that were present, engineering and hospitality, could support each other in further strengthening their project development and ensure its relevance for the labour market, although their subjects are very different. Furthermore, we discussed topics like constructive alignment and formative assessment to ensure that their students will be in the driving seat of the projects they will start developing. In such a way the students will feel ownership of their own learning process, so their motivation will be guaranteed. This is not always an easy thing to do when an educational system is more hierarchically organised. The teachers were able to discuss about this matter and gave each other incredibly useful tips and tricks on how to solve this.

The project-based education pilot will start in March 2023. When this pilot is completed, The teams that have been trained will guide other teams of LOBO so they are also able to integrate entrepreneurial competences in project based education. All agreed that entrepreneurial competences are highly needed in the curricula in all courses that LOBO offers.
