Johan is a PhD researcher with 14 years of experience in scientific, policy and contract research in the field of education and the labour market. His expertise lies in the field of analysis methods and techniques, writing reports and publishing results, developing questionnaires and setting up thorough experiments with which impact assessments can measure causal effects. Johan is a very experienced researcher, interested in e.g. the connection between education and labor market and teacher quality. Johan has worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Maastricht University. He has done research into the role of personality traits in academic performance at the university, using vignettes to correct bias in the measurement of personality traits. At the research institute Etil at Maastricht University, he set up portals for educational and labor market data, among other things. As a PhD student he wrote his thesis ‘Teacher characteristics and student performance: how teacher ability, gender and instruction styles affect student outcomes in primary education’.
